Description
Prunus laurocerasus 'Mt Vernon', commonly known as Chestnut Hill Cherry Laurel, is a woody landscape shrub valued for its white flowers during spring. It typically matures 10–20 feet tall and 8–10 feet wide. Grow it in full sun through deep shade in average, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Europe. This is a larval host plant to Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (Papilio glaucus). In the landscape, it works well in flowering tree, hedge, and screen/privacy. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to dry soil, heavy shade, and pollution.
