Description
Hakonechloa 'Aureola', commonly known as Japanese Forest Grass, is a clump-forming ornamental grass or sedge valued for its gold flowers. It typically matures 1–2 feet tall and 1.5–3 feet wide. Grow it in partial shade to shade in average, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Japan, especially moist mountain woodlands of central Honshu. Its flowers can provide seasonal forage for bees and other beneficial insects. In the landscape, it works well in mass plantings, meadows, and mixed borders. Good siting and appropriate moisture help maintain its best form through the season.
