Description
Woodwardia aerolata is a clump-forming herbaceous fern valued for its white flowers. It typically matures 1–4 feet tall and 1–3 feet wide. Grow it in partial shade to shade in average, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Eastern North America, from southeastern Canada through the eastern United States to Florida and Texas. Its foliage supplies texture and seasonal cover, though it does not produce flowers for pollinators. In the landscape, it works well in woodland gardens, shaded borders, and naturalized plantings. Good siting and appropriate moisture help maintain its best form through the season.
Benefits
Adds structure, texture, and seasonal interest to garden plantings.
