Description
Juncus glauca, commonly known as Blue Rush, is a clump-forming ornamental grass or sedge valued for its green to brown flowers. It typically matures 1–3 feet tall and 1–2 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist to occasionally wet, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Europe, western Asia, and North Africa. Its flowers can provide seasonal forage for bees and other beneficial insects. In the landscape, it works well in mass plantings, meadows, and mixed borders. It performs best where the root zone does not dry out for extended periods.
Benefits
Adds texture and coverage to water gardens or consistently wet containers. A better candidate for landscapes with deer pressure than more browse-prone plants. Useful for solving damp, wet, or pond-edge planting conditions.
