Cercis canadensis 'Flame Thrower', commonly known as a Redbud, is a small tree valued for its pink, flowers during spring. It typically matures 20–30 feet tall and 25–35 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range is Eastern and central North America. 12 species of Lepidoptera use this tree as a larval host plant. In the landscape, it works well in border, flowering tree, and small groups. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to black walnut, compaction, and deer.
