Pieris japonica 'Prelude'

Pieris japonica 'Prelude', commonly known as Japanese Andromeda, is a woody landscape shrub valued for its white flowers during spring. It typically matures 8–10 feet tall and 6–8 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is SE China, Central to Southern Japan, and Taiwan. Deer resistant In the landscape, it works well in border, foundation planting, and mass planting. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to deer.

Builds the middle layer of the garden, adding structure between perennials and trees. Creates an early-season lift after winter with fresh color and growth. Supports a more active, living garden with flowers that pollinators can use. A better candidate for landscapes with deer pressure than more browse-prone plants.
