Carpinus caroliniana 'Wisconsin Red', commonly known as Carpinus ornamental, is a woody tree or large shrub valued for its gold or yellow and green flowers during spring. It typically matures 20–30 feet tall and 20–35 feet wide. Grow it in partial to deep shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is E. Canada to SE. U.S.A., NC. It is a larval host plant for the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Red-spotted Purple butterflies. In the landscape, it works well in understory tree, naturalized area, and recreational play area. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to black walnut, dry soil, and fire.

Provides seasonal color and texture and may support pollinators or other garden wildlife.
