Quercus muehlenbergii

Quercus muehlenbergii, commonly known as Chinkapin Oak, is a woody tree or large shrub valued for its gold or yellow flowers during spring. It typically matures 40–60 feet tall and 50–70 feet wide. Grow it in full sun in average to occasionally dry, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is S. Ontario to Central & Eastern U.S.A., North Eastern Mexico. Mildly resistant to deer. In the landscape, it works well in shade tree, street tree, and lawn. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to deer and drought.
