Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Nana Gracilis', commonly known as False Cypress, is a woody evergreen conifer valued for its foliage, form, and structural presence. It typically matures 3–6 feet tall and 2–4 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Formosa, Japan. Its dense branching can provide shelter and nesting cover for birds. In the landscape, it works well in foundation planting, hedge, and specimen.
