Syringa vulgaris 'New Age Lavender', commonly known as Lilac, is a woody landscape shrub valued for its lavender flowers during spring. It typically matures 8–16 feet tall and 6–12 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Balkan Peninsula. Lilac attracts hummingbirds and butterflies. In the landscape, it works well in accent, foundation planting, and hedge. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to deer, rabbits, and salt.
