Description
Hamamelis x intermedia 'Arnold's Promise', commonly known as Hybrid Witchhazel, is a woody landscape shrub valued for its brown or copper, gold or yellow, orange, and red or burgundy flowers during winter. It typically matures 15–20 feet tall and 8–10 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is cultivated hybrid of Hamamelis japonica of Japan and H. mollis of China. Its flowers can provide seasonal forage for bees and other beneficial insects. In the landscape, it works well in hedge, screen/privacy, and small groups. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to deer and erosion.
