Spiraea 'Double Play Candy Corn'

Spiraea 'Double Play Candy Corn', commonly known as Spiraea, is a woody landscape shrub valued for its pink, red or burgundy, and white flowers during spring. It typically matures 2–5 feet tall and 2–5 feet wide. Grow it in full sun in moist, well-drained garden soil. Its native range or documented parentage is cultivated selection primarily derived from Spiraea japonica of Japan, Korea, and China. Many are host plants to several moths. In the landscape, it works well in foundation planting, hedge, and lawn. It has a medium growth rate and generally requires little routine maintenance.

Builds the middle layer of the garden, adding structure between perennials and trees. Creates an early-season lift after winter with fresh color and growth. Supports a more active, living garden with flowers that pollinators can use. A better candidate for landscapes with deer pressure than more browse-prone plants.
