Liatris pycnostachya

Liatris pycnostachya is a herbaceous perennial valued for its purple blooms flowers during fall and summer. It typically matures 1–4 feet tall and 1–3 feet wide. Grow it in full sun in average to occasionally dry, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Central U.S.A. It attracts bees, hummingbirds and butterflies. In the landscape, it works well in border, meadow, and naturalized area. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to drought, heat, and humidity.

Provides seasonal color and texture and may support pollinators or other garden wildlife.
