Description
Brunnera macrophylla, commonly known as Siberian Bugloss, is a herbaceous perennial valued for its blue and white flowers during spring. It typically matures 1–1.5 feet tall and 1.5–2.5 feet wide. Grow it in partial to deep shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Turkey, North Caucasus, Transcaucus. It attracts bees and other pollinators. In the landscape, it works well in border, mass planting, and small groups. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to deer and rabbits.
Benefits
Creates an early-season lift after winter with fresh color and growth. Brings more movement to the garden by drawing butterflies and other pollinators. A better candidate for landscapes with deer pressure than more browse-prone plants.
