Description
Aster novae-angliae 'Purple Dome', commonly known as New England Aster, is a herbaceous perennial valued for its purple flowers during fall and summer. It typically matures 3–6 feet tall and 1–3 feet wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Eastern North America. Host plant for the Pearl Crescent (Phyciodes tharos) caterpillars which have several broods and appear from April through November in the north and throughout the year… In the landscape, it works well in border, small groups, and meadow. It has a medium growth rate and generally has medium maintenance needs.
