Hydrangea petiolaris, commonly known as Climbing Hydrangea, is a climbing or trailing perennial valued for its gold or yellow and white flowers during spring and summer. It typically matures 30–60 feet tall and 5–6 feet wide. Grow it in partial to deep shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Himalayas and China, Japan, Sakhalin, Korea, Taiwan. Its flowers can provide seasonal forage for bees and other beneficial insects. In the landscape, it works well in mass planting, screen/privacy, and specimen. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to drought, heavy shade, and rabbits.
