Description
Trifolium repens, commonly known as Clover, is a herbaceous perennial valued for its white flowers during spring and summer. It typically matures 4–6 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Grow it in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained clay or loam soil. Its native range or documented parentage is Europe. It supports Clouded Sulfur (Colias philodice) larvae which appear from May to October in the North and from March to November in the South. In the landscape, it works well in mass planting, lawn, and meadow. Once established, it shows useful tolerance to erosion, foot traffic, and poor soil.
Benefits
Brings more movement to the garden by drawing butterflies and other pollinators. A better candidate for landscapes with deer pressure than more browse-prone plants.
